At Desert Bloom, food is more than nourishment; it’s a way to create connection and community. Founded in 2024 by Mariah Savage and Jason Lucero, Desert Bloom was born from a shared passion for food, art, and bringing people together.

With over six years of experience in the catering industry, Mariah and Jason bring a rich blend of creativity and expertise to every event. Their approach combines intentionality, quality, and a deep understanding of how food can elevate an experience.

Together, Mariah and Jason started catering in 2019 and quickly realized that catering was a natural extension of their shared connection to food, community, and service. They discovered a love for creating one-of-a-kind experiences through food, whether it’s an intimate dinner, a farm-to-table celebration, or a large-scale event.

Since then, they’ve had the privilege of being part of countless incredible events, from holiday parties and city events to weddings and birthdays. Each event presents another opportunity to refine their craft and strengthen their connection to the community. This journey has been both humbling and inspiring, and Mariah and Jason are deeply grateful for the relationships they’ve built and the opportunity to continue doing what they love.

Meet the founders

Mariah Savage

Mariah grew up in Dallas, Texas, but her family’s roots are in the Southwest. She started baking at the age of 10, often while her mom made dinner. In her early twenties, Mariah studied religion, culture, and sustainable agriculture before eventually relocating to El Paso to live closer to family. A few years and adventures later, the universe aligned, and in 2017, she had the incredible opportunity to co-found a local café, Savage Goods, with her brother and sister-in-law. Her background in fine dining and hospitality gives her a refined sense of detail and service, ensuring that every event is elevated and thoughtfully executed.

Jason Lucero

Jason is a native El Pasoan who gravitated toward the arts early in life, ultimately earning a BFA in Studio Art at UTEP. While in school, he started working in kitchens—first as a dishwasher and eventually leading teams at well-loved local restaurants like TablaOde BrewingSalt Box, and Savage Goods. Jason’s artistic eye and culinary expertise allow him to craft dishes that are both visually stunning and delicious, blending creativity with precision.
